The Retail Coach is entering the second phase of retail recruitment for the City of Odessa. The results of the first strategy for The City of Odessa were promising for its retail future.
Ranked as the third fastest growing small city in the United States by Forbes magazine, Odessa creates an ideal setting for national brands to expand their presence in the growing region. Odessa is strategically located on Interstate 20, one of the main East-West routes across Texas, allowing exponential opportunities for growth.
The Retail Coach analyzed cell phone data for Odessa to show a Retail Trade Area of 545,322 people. Odessa has large retail potential with a Retail Trade Area of over four and a half times its population.
Odessa has a total sales opportunity of over $5 billon. The Retail Coach is working to recruit the ideal retailers and restaurants to fill this leakage, allowing Odessa’s economy to further flourish. Current recruitment efforts have had strong responses from the industry and will continue through the rest of the project.
The next steps of the process will include continued retail recruitment, marketing and branding efforts, as well as presenting available sites in Odessa to retailers. The Retail Coach is looking forward to the continuation of this project and representing Odessa at future trade shows and meetings, including Retail Live on August 31 and ICSC Texas Conference and Deal Making on November 8-10. The potential in Odessa is strong and The Retail Coach looks forward to utilizing that potential to recruit appropriate and successful retailers to the growing community.
